What sort of time commitment have you put into your dream?
Master blogger Seth Godin was asked how he got to be so good at blogging. He replied, “I wrote a thousand blogs.”
Malcolm Gladwell in “Outliers” states it takes ten years, or 10,000 hours, to truly master a craft or attain expert level.
Most writers have worked around ten years to get their first book published. Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule, but what are you doing in your own journey? Are you planning on getting around to that practice or are you down in the trenches?
I’ve been spending too much time away from the heart of what I love. The story. The writing. The connection with keyboard and the feel of pen to paper.
So back I go to chip away at that thousand blogs, the ten thousand hours of writing. Not because I even want to be at a certain level of mastery. Because it is what I love to do. What I have to do.
Very inspiring, Nicole. Thank you!
