My Review:

Dry as Rain is anything but. I’d been anxious to read Holmes’ work after her debut, Crossing Oceans, was such a smash. Dry as Rain really didn’t dissapoint. Strong writing, full of emotions and enough tension to keep you turning each page.

The entire book is told through the husband’s perspective. Honestly, I did struggle with that at first. But the character himself is a flawed man, and it was difficult seeing his faults through his eyes. Brilliant on the writer’s part. Truly brilliant.

Unlike so much fiction that sugar-coats so many truths and realities that Christians face in life, Holmes breaks it all apart and shows the raw wounds. This story left me questioning my own faith and my own character. Could I truly forgive? Could I give the mercy and grace that is given to me?

I challenge you to read Dry as Rain. It is painful at times, but you won’t be disappointed.
