Having grown up on a private, gravel-driveway hill in the middle of a small town, I’m no stranger to seeing deer walking around the house. In fact, it was a regular occurrence to see a doe and her babies hanging out in my horse’s pasture.
But in the six years I’ve lived in the city limits, I’ve never once seen a deer within the vicinity.
Until today.
A buck and doe startled me, and the birds, in the back yard. I only happened upon them because four rogue chickens had snuck into the front yard (which is not a part of their domain) and I was shooing them back into their proper territory.
I caught a few photos with my phone and a short video of one jumping the fence (not the greatest quality, so I’ll spare you.) And then I dashed inside, grabbed the DSLR and caught a few of the deer as they grazed next door in anĀ abandoned lot.
And, while I had the SLR out, caught a few more photos of the angry birds:
Blondie was not happy about the deer invading her space – she hung out on the fence railing for a while until the deer had been long gone.
Hawkeye, the rooster, is coming into his own lately. He was most upset about the intruders.
Apparently there’s never a dull moment around the Miller Farmstead.
