once-upon-a-prince-PW-star-200x308Who could pass up the chance to review a modern-day fairy tale written by the incredible Rachel Hauck? Not me.

Description:

Susanna Truitt never dreamed of a great romance or being treated like a princess—just to marry the man she has loved for twelve years. But life isn’t going according to plan. When her high-school-sweetheart-turned-Marine-officer breaks up instead of proposing, Susanna scrambles to rebuild her life.

The last thing Prince Nathaniel expects to find on his American holiday to St. Simon’s Island is the queen of his heart. A prince has duties, and his family’s tense political situation has chosen his bride for him. When Prince Nathaniel comes to Susanna’s aid under the fabled Lover’s Oak, he is blindsided by love.

Their lives are worlds apart. He’s a royal prince. She’s a ordinary girl. But everything changes when Susanna receives an invitation to Nathaniel’s coronation.

My review:

Hauck’s writing is always clean, refreshing and engaging. She pulls you into her stories right away with fresh characters and new twists on old plots. This tale is no different.

With hints of Cinderella and Princess Diaries, Once  Upon a Prince is a divine romance that pits personal duty against the yearnings of the heart. The fictional kingdom and monarchy feels genuine and believable.

Susanna’s character resonated as all her carefully laid plans fell to ruins. Doesn’t it always seem that the most structured plans topple the loudest?

If you love romance and you love the glamor of royalty, check out this beautiful tale.
