This post has nothing to do with a flower. But it’s pretty to look at, right?
As an aspiring author, I’m a student of marketing, self-promotion, tribe-building and everything in between. I’m seeking the “right” way to launch my career and I’ve been doing so for nearly four solid years.
I don’t really have anything figured out yet.
In truth, I don’t think anyone really does. If they claim to, they’re mis-phrasing it. They’ve found what works for them, not what will necessarily will work for all.
I don’t mean to sound cynical. I’m not. I’m just taking a step back and looking at all that I have done and am doing.
At this point, I think that I need to pull back from my blogging efforts and focus more on my fiction writing. I am participating in National Novel Writing Month in November (NaNoWriMo) and will be writing 50,000 words in 30 days. That takes a significant amount of focus and dedication, and though I’ll provide occasional updates here on my blog, I want to shift my focus. I’ll no longer be posting three times a week.
I’m sorry to you, my loyal blog readers. I hope you understand this is a journey of self-discovery and I will not be far from reach. I’m not sure when I’ll return to regular postings, but you’ll see the occasional book review and NaNoWriMo update.
Keep connected with me on Facebook or Twitter! I’ll catch you on the flip side. 😉
Best of luck, Nicole. The process of self-discovery can be exhilarating and thorny, revelatory and messy. And it’s a never-ending one. It’s true. None of us ever fully, totally figure this stuff out. I look forward to your NaNoWriMo updates. I sense another excellent novel on the horizon. 🙂
Thank you, Heather! I never want this journey to get stagnant, so I feel exhilarated by this decision! Onward!
I don’t blame you a bit, Nicole! Can’t wait to see you soar in NaNo! 🙂
